Description

1951 Mercedes-Benz 170 VA in Sydney, NSW. 1951 Mercedes Benz 170 VA w136 manual  The W136 platform became the womb for post war models, having been the single one that survived Allied bombings. The 170 had a look close to that of the Mob car although its purpose was primarily of that delivering a safe and quality ride to buyers and not that of providinga fast rolling post with guns attached. In engineering terms the new 170V was a pre war model. In may 1950 production of the 170VA and 170DA began, their most important features being a larger displacement, more power, a broader rear track, softer springs, more powerful brakes, a trunk accessible from the outside, air deflecting panels on the front side windows, a steering shaft tube and turn signal ring on the steering wheel. This 1951 Australian matching numbers car was originally deivered by Clyde Industries Sydneyand still retains its plate attached making it one of the very few Right Hand drive cars delivered new into the country. The car also has the no longer available Classiche Cetificate as issued by Mercedes Benz Germany 2005 confirming its specifications and delivery. This car would have to be one of the most original cars world wide, with only 4 owners and showing an original 87,00 miles. Its major upgrade has been a total refurbishment of the interior. The car is mechanically very sound. Starts and drives and his been used constantly over th past 14 years    The car comes with a full set of brochures, manuals and parts books which would almost be impossible to find today. An incredibly rare addition to this car are the parts that would be necessary to assemble this car into a wood gas burning car. One of only Two known example is available on view at the The Carl Benz Museum in Ladenburg Germany making this possibly the third one in the world. The original Mercedes Gaserzeugungsanlage ( wood Burning)     Manual is also available. The sourcing of all these items has taken well over 10 years. A very rare and possibly unique motor vehicle.
